Effect of Coriander on H2O2-induced Oxidative Stress in PC12 Cells

Objective: Coriander (Coriandrum sativum), a member of the Apiaceae family plants, is traditionally used as spice and medicinal plant which has anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety effects for treatment diabetes. The present study aimed to investigate coriander on H2O2-induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells. Methods: cells were cultured Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium, various treatments analyzed using cytotoxicity assay, morphological evaluation neurite outgrowth, western blotting. Results: assay showed increased levels LDH treated above 10-5 M H2O2, however there was no significant change administration group. Morphological significantly outgrowth nerve growth factor (NGF) group after 72 h. Treatment NGF-stimulated with H2O2 reversed effect NGF returned control Simultaneous 0.1 or 0.01 µg/mL Western blot that phosphorylated ERK compared H2O2+NGF group, differences found H2O2+NGF+0.1 Conclusion: reduction following H2O2. This suggests may help prevent oxidative stress-induced neurodegeneration.
